When planning is already completed you may receive some last-minute orders which you want to insert into your routes with minimal changes:

There are a few convenient ways to do that in MaxOptra. Let us review them all.

The most simple and obvious way to allocate last minute orders into a locked, but not started run, is to drag and drop them manually.

However, there are a few things you need to be aware of in case of manual allocation. First of all, you have to select the proper place for the order(s) in the run yourself. Violations can be displayed, if orders do not meet certain requirements (you can ignore violations or correct the order settings). Besides, manual dragging and dropping does not work efficiently when there are a lot of orders to be allocated. In this case you can use other methods of last minute allocation (see below).

Right-click the order which you want to insert into your routes and select Suggest allocations:

MaxOptra will calculate the impact of adding the selected order into each route and give you a prioritized list of options:

The Violations column will indicate if adding the selected order to this route causes a constraint violation, for example, taking the vehicle over its weight capacity or the driver over the driving hours limit:

The Cost column shows the cost of adding the selected order to this route:

The table is automatically sorted on Violations column first showing options with no violations at the top and the Cost column second showing the cheapest option at the top.

When you have found the best option you can simply click Allocate.

and the selected order will be added to the chosen route:

You can even do that for multiple orders at once. Hold down the Ctrl key and select multiple orders by clicking on each order on the map or in the list of Unplanned orders or by drawing a rectangular selection on the map:

Then right-click any of the orders and select Suggest allocations:

The orders will be evaluated together and inserted together into the same route:

Both of the previously mentioned methods of last minute allocation were of manual or semi-automatic type, while Incremental Planning allows you to automatically plan your extra orders into the locked, but not started run.

To start incremental planning of the locked but not started schedule:

2.Click Incrementally. The system will automatically consider all the order requirements and settings and plan the new orders into the existing schedule (runs are locked, but order details are not sent to drivers yet) if it is feasible, otherwise the orders will remain unplanned.
