Using MS Excel for Import Files

New import file (the example of Excel 2013)

  1. Create a new Excel file(work only on the first spreadsheet).

  2. Use the column headers from the Order Import File. Column Names and Requirements table when filling in the data sheet.

  3. The order of columns does not matter.

  4. Add the order parameters in columns according to their names.

  5. Save the file as CSV (Comma delimited) (* .csv)

Import file from a template

  1. Open the template file using Microsoft Excel.

  2. Please ensure the headings are separated. Click the Date tab and select Text to columns.

  3. Select Delimited in Convert Text to Column Wizard.

  4. Click Next.

  1. Select the separator other (,) and then click Finish.

  2. Add your orders information according to the columns headings.

  3. Save the file as <file name>. CSV file, ignore any possible messages about the loss of file properties.

Note

  • When deleting records from a CSV using Excel, be careful. You should delete not the cells values, but the whole lines so that the file does not have any delimiters in these lines.

  • In addition, it is convenient to use the Text to Column button on the Date tab. This function is used in case the system has not a system separator set up and the CSV file opened incorrectly.

  • UTF is usually supported for data encoding, but for MaxOptra import files this may be configurable. Contact the MaxOptra Support team if you need to specify other encoding format.
