Sometimes it may be necessary to limit the run duration. For example, if a company uses battery-driven (electric) vehicles it is important all these vehicles will return to the depot until they are discharged. Using the Run duration limit option the dispatcher can set necessary run duration.
How to set "Run duration limit" in MaxOptra
You can set Run duration limit parameter either in Resources- for the whole Distribution centre or for a certain Driver for a certain day.
Setting Run duration limit for DC
To set the Run duration limit for the existing distribution center, under the role of Dispatcher or Account administrator go to Settings> Resources> Distribution centre parameters. Select the distribution centre you need, specify Run duration limit in hours per shift, then save your changes.

The program will use it by default for this distribution centre, until you change it again.
Setting Run duration limit for driver
You can set Run duration limit per shift for a certain driver: the run will be scheduled in such a way that a driver could return back to the depot to charge his vehicle or to load it to perform the next run. To set the Run duration limit per shift for a certain driver, go under the role of Dispatcher or Account administrator to Settings> Resources> Driver parameters. Select the driver you need, specify Run duration limit per shift in hours and save your changes.
If you want to set the Run duration limit for a specified driver for a specified day or edit the existing value, click the driver's name on the Planning screen to open the Driver form. Specify the Run duration limit in hours and save your changes
How the "Run duration limit" feature works in MaxOptra
During auto-planning MaxOptra will not create runs with duration exceeding the Run duration limit. If the total time of all orders execution exceeds the Run duration limit, MaxOptra will divide all orders into several runs with the duration not exceeding the Run duration limit (provided that the Allow several runs for a vehicle per day setting is enabled at Settings> Planning preferences).
You can plan the run manually with duration exceeding the Run duration limit. In this case, MaxOptra will display the violation warning in the tooltip: "Run # _. Run time limit for this driver __ is exceeded by __":
