The Drivers in MaxOptra represent the drivers of your fleet. They are assigned to vehicles and are used for building routes.
If a driver was not created specially for a vehicle (see Create vehicles , it.7), you can create it on the spot.
To create or manage your drivers, make sure the selected role is Account Administrator and you are on the Drivers screen of the Settings tab:
Click Add to create a new driver:
2. Fill in the driver Name and select the Distribution centre. Then you can select the Vehicle this driver is assigned to:
You can change these parameters later at any time.
3. Specify the driver's Login, E-mail and Password fields. They will be used to access the driver's PDA or another mobile device. These fields are optional, the system will fill out these fields automatically and you can later change this data on the User parameters and System Roles tab.
4. Specify the drive Cost per hour. This parameter is used for calculating the flat cost of the schedule for MaxOptra to optimise.
You can also specify the Driving limit, Run duration limit and Duty time limit for each driver individually by enabling the checkboxes next to those fields. If you do not, the default set on the Distribution centre will be applied. For details, see Create a distribution centre (it.5) and Distribution centre parameters.
5. The Availability hours configuration is used to set up the driver's availability. Select the days this driver is working on and specify the earliest start and the latest finish times.
Please note that MaxOptra will optimise and suggest the actual start and finish times for each route it builds. These time intervals will remain within boundaries set here, the limits specified above will be taken into account. For example, if the driver availability is set at 05:00 a.m. till 08:00 p.m., which is a fifteen-hours window and the total duty time limit is set to eleven hours, MaxOptra will select the eleven-hour working shift, such as 07:00 a.m. till 06:00 p.m., which is within the fifteen-hours availability window and fits the planned orders the best way.
If your drivers start at a fixed time and you would like them to begin work straight away, you can specify this by checking the Start driving exactly at the shift start box.
For multi-day routes, you can select the following shifts:
Note: If you create multi-day routes, you should also increase the Driving limit and Duty time limit accordingly. For details, see Scheduling Multi-day Shifts .
