Using the map on the Track&Trace screen

Written by Arthur Ashdown

The Track & Trace Map feature provides users with real-time visibility into the status and location of drivers and orders. The map displays the driver's route, the order sequence they follow, and the time spent at each stop.

The Track & Trace map provide the following benefits:

Proactive Problem Solving Monitoring real time movements of a driver can enable Transport Managers to quickly identify delays and be able to address possible issues with traffic, vehicle breakdowns and customer disputes in a timely manner

Data-Driven Decision Making Users can analyse driver performance and identify areas of improvements. Users will be able to see how often drivers deviate from the scheduled route and be able to use the map to benchmark performance within a fleet

Track & Trace Map

As a Dispatcher or Customer Service User on the Track & Trace Screen, click the

icon assigned to a run

The map displays the scheduled and actual routes of the selected run, allowing you to move the tracking pin along the timeline to view the vehicle's journey, tracking points, and order points

Features on the map:

  • Planned VS Actual - Switch between these views to compare the actual order sequence with the planned sequence, including the planned and actual time sequences

  • Minimise GPS drift - Enabling this setting filters out unnecessary GPS points, reducing inaccurate driver movements on the map. Reason being when a driver is stopped, multiple satellites can pick up GPS signals, leading to false movements

  • Scheduled route - The planned route colour

  • Actual route - The actual route colour

  • Tracking point - GPS notifications of speed and direction of travel are recorded on average every minute.

  • Stop point - The point where drivers have stopped moving and their speed falls below a configurable threshold (currently set at 8 km/h). This feature allows for customisation by contacting [email protected] to adjust the threshold.

- Move the pin along the timeline to see the driver's location at a given moment

  • Geozone editor - Track & Trace includes a visual representation of a geozone, a radius is used to determine if the driver has visited the customer or not. This geozone can be edited by moving and adjusting the radius. See below for instructions on how to modify the default geozone radius

How to use the Track & Trace map

As a Dispatcher or Customer Service user on the Track & Trace Screen, click the map

Track & Trace map is displayed

Move the pin along the timeline to see the driver's journey

Choose "Planned" or "Actual" to view the driver's projected or actual route

Selecting "Actual" or "Planned" will show the driver's journey start and end times based on the chosen view mode.

Click on the coloured icon above an order point to see its delivery status

View the tracking points of a driver to see their direction of travel and speed. Tracking points are updated on average every minute

Select the check box to Minimise GPS drift

To modify the geozone default radius, go to SETTINGS as an Account Administrator > Execution Preferences > Tracking Settings and adjust the meter radius that determines when a driver enters or exits the geozone area for customer location.
