Logistics companies often provide their service within large territories and find it easier to divide them into smaller sub-territories in order to optimize the delivery process – each driver or engineer performs deliveries and collections within his specified territory.

To create territories, go to Settings> Territories. Next, click th Add button to add a territory.

The system allows you to draw the territory on the map - simply click the map to start drawing. When the territory is drawn, choose a name and a colour. Perform the same steps for all the territories you wish to add. You may draw as many territories as you need. Try to draw the territories in such a way that they will not overlap each other. Click the Apply to order button to apply the created territories to your orders.

To perform scheduling using the territories you should apply the created territories to the drivers or the vehicles. Choose the territory in the vehicle settings or driver settings to apply territories.

If vehicles don't have territories assigned, then the driver's territories are considered and vice versa.

When assigning territories to orders, vehicles and drivers, make sure they all match in order to allow access to the territory.

For example:

You can assign a contradicting territory on purpose to PREVENT a certain driver from going to a specific place.

When territories are applied to orders, drivers and vehicles, you may perform auto-scheduling using the territories. Go to Settings tab>Planning preferences (to make it default) or go to Planning screen>

>Planning preferences (to apply for a particular day) and select Use territories for the territories planning mode option. Thus, during auto-scheduling, the orders will be automatically planned for the vehicles and the drivers within the specified territory.

On the Planning screen, each territory is displayed with its name and colour coding:

Using this option you can substitute drivers, which are unavailable for any reason.

To create a group of territories choose Settings> Advanced settings Territories. Next, click the Add group button to add a group of territories.

Assign the territories to groups of territories by selecting a group in the territory edit form. You may group all or some of your territories, and some territories may remain ungrouped.

To understand how planning with groups of territories works, let us look at an example.

We have three territories "A", "B" and "C" assigned to a group of territories "ABC". When scheduling with groups of territories the orders from territory "A" can be allocated to any driver from territories "A", "B" or "C" belonging to the same group of territories "ABC".

If a territory is not included into any group of territories, when planning it will act as a separate group of territories. For example, if we have twodrivers "X" and "Y" belonging to the territory "D" which is ungroupped. In this case,the orders belonging to the territory "D" will be allocated only to the drivers "X" and "Y" from the territory "D".

If you plan without territories the orders can be allocated to any driver despite his belonging to the territory.

When planning the routes, you can combine several modes of scheduling – using territories, using groups of territories or without territories. To set up the territories planning mode choose Settings > Planning preference and choose the planning mode you want to use.
