In the MaxOptra System, the Vehicles screen is used to keep information about vehicles either owned or used by a transportation company for orders delivery. Along with drivers, they will be used to create routes.
The MaxOptra System automatically creates a User and Driver account for each vehicle created within the default name Driver for (registration number). Following the assignment of driver to vehicle (described at Assigning drivers to vehicles ) you will be able to modify a driver name. Further, on the User screen you will be able to modify the Driver for (registration number) parameters.
Note Below are the parameters of a vehicle which can affect the automatic planning:
Supported vehicle requirements define what type of orders each vehicle can transfer. Consequently, only corresponding orders will be assigned to the vehicle;
Capacity defines the amount of orders the vehicle is able to carry when fully loaded. The unit of measurement for capacity must be the same as that used to define the size of an order.
Maximum speed affects the calculation of the route duration;
Distribution centre is the location from where the vehicle starts and finishes its delivery route.
To create or manage your vehicles, make sure the selected role is Account Administrator and you are on the Vehicles page of the Settings tab:
1.On the bottom toolbar of this screen, click Add and the following screen will now appear:
Fill in the following mandatory information about the new vehicle (red fields with asterisk*):
In the Name field, fill in the registration number of a vehicle. You can use any other name for a vehicle in place for the registration number, if you want to.
In the Capacity field, specify the maximum capacity of the vehicle in units configured in Account settings (kilograms for weight and m3for volume).
In the Cost per mile field, specify the cost (in pounds) per mile for the specified route of a vehicle.
From the Distribution centre drop-down, select a distribution centre this vehicle is assigned to. Note If there is only one distribution centre in the system, it will be selected automatically.
Specify other (optional) parameters of a vehicle, if necessary (see Vehicle parameters).
Click Save to save your vehicle.
To create a new vehicle click Add and follow the above mentioned procedure all over again. You can also use the Clone button on the Vehicle form to copy the already created vehicle, and then edit the necessary data (see Cloning Vehicles).
