Scheduling settings: Dynamic Breaks

Written by Arthur Ashdown

As a result of scheduling, the dispatcher needs to break up the schedule according to two standard criteria: duty hours not longer than 4.5 hours of driving, and 6 hours of duty. Break time duration should be always 45 minutes, but driving time can be different.

The following parameters are used by default for each driver settings:

  • Break duration (45 minutes) - how long the break actually lasts;

  • Driving time before break (every 4.5 hours of driving) - for how long the driver can drive the vehicle before they can have a break;

  • Working time before break (every 6 hours of working time) - total working time before break (driving + loading/unloading + other activities).

To configure the dynamic break to be applied as default (permanent setting), please switch to the Account administrator role, and select Settings> **Breaks ** (also see Settings window and Manage your driving times ).

To configure the temporary dynamic break applied only for the current planning day, log in as a Dispatcher and go to the Planning screen. Click the button

, located on the top toolbar. Highlight the **Breaks ** tab.

Note:

  • The break policy will be disabled automatically and become invisible on the driver settings in case you selected the second choice (Dynamic break type).

  • Selecting **Fixed ** will automatically enable the break time policy to configure it individually from each driver settings.
