Include Operation duration in Time Window setting

In MaxOptra system, operation time windows (order time windows) are the time when an order should be executed. In other words, to keep operation time windows, a driver should arrive to the customer location and drop or pickup an order within these time windows. However, customers do not always consider the order time windows as the time windows for arrival and unloading. Sometimes, the customer requires the driver just to arrive within these time windows, while the time of the order execution stays beyond the operation time windows. For cases like this, MaxOptra suggests using the Include Operation duration in Time Window setting, that allows scheduling orders with account to operation duration, and without it. Now, when having this setting disabled, operation duration will not be considered in the order time window. It means that the orders will be scheduled in such a way that the driver will arrive by or after the start of the order time window, but he can continue the delivery or collection after the end of the window.

How to turn on/turn off the "Include Operation duration in Time Window" setting in MaxOptra

The Include Operation duration in Time Window setting is disabled by default. To enable this setting, please contact MaxOptra Support Team.

How the "Include Operation duration in Time Window" setting works in MaxOptra

Let us consider how MaxOptra works with Include Operation duration in Time Window enabled and disabled.

The "Include Operation duration in Time Window" setting is turned on

With this setting enabled, there are two options of calculation of the driver's arrival time to the customer location. Let us consider each one in detail.

An order has one Operation time window

Case 1

Suppose, the order time window (Operation time window) is from 11 till 13 o'clock, operation duration is 10 minutes. The driver arrived at 12.55. MaxOptra will consider the driver to be late as he has not got enough time to drop or pickup an order till the end of the operation time window.

For each type of orders (delivery or collection), operation duration consists of the following attributes:

  • operation duration specified in the order form or in the account settings;

  • additional time per visit;

  • drop or pickup duration per capacity unit * order items specified in the order form.

Graphically, the situation is displayed in the figure below:

On the Track&Trace screen, the order line is displayed in yellow.

Case 2

Suppose, the order time window (Operation time window) is from 11 till 13 o'clock, operation duration is 10 minutes. The driver arrived at 12.30. MaxOptra will consider the driver to be on time, as he has enough time to execute an order. Graphically, the situation is displayed in the figure below:

On the Track&Trace screen, the order line is displayed in green.

Case 3

Suppose, the order time window (Operation time window) is from 11 till 13 o'clock, operation duration is 10 minutes. The driver arrived at 10.30. MaxOptra will consider the driver to be early, as he arrived before the start of the operation time window (order time window).Graphically, the situation is displayed in the figure below:

On the Track&Trace screen, the order line is displayed in dark green.

An order has several operation time windows

Case 1

Suppose, an order has three time windows (Operation time windows): the first is from 11 till 13 o'clock, the second is from 15 till 17 o'clock, the third is from 19 till 21 o'clock, and operation duration is 10 minutes. The driver arrived at10.30. MaxOptra will consider the driver to be early, as he arrived before the start of the first operation time window (order time window). Graphically, the situation is displayed in the figure below:

On the Track&Trace screen, the order line will be displayed in dark green (

Case 2

Suppose, an order has three time windows (Operation time windows): the first is from 11 till 13 o'clock, the second is from 15 till 17 o'clock, the third is from 19 till 21 o'clock, and operation duration is 10 minutes. The driver arrived at11.30. MaxOptra will consider the driver to be on time, as he has enough time to execute an order. Graphically, the situation is displayed in the figure below:

On the Track&Trace screen, the order line will be displayed in green (

Case 3

Suppose, an order has three time windows (Operation time windows): the first is from 11 till 13 o'clock, the second is from 15 till 17 o'clock, the third is from 19 till 21 o'clock, and operation duration is 10 minutes. The driver arrived at12.55. MaxOptra will consider the driver to be early, as he arrived before the start of the second operation time window (order time window). Graphically, the situation is displayed in the figure below:

Case 4

Suppose, an order has three time windows (Operation time windows): the first is from 11 till 13 o'clock, the second is from 15 till 17 o'clock, the third is from 19 till 21 o'clock, and operation duration is 10 minutes. The driver arrived at14.00. MaxOptra will consider the driver to be early, as he arrived after the end of the first operation time window, but before the start of the second operation time window. Graphically, the situation is displayed in the figure below:

On the Track&Trace screen, the order line will be displayed in dark green (

Case 5

Suppose, an order has three time windows (Operation time windows): the first is from 11 till 13 o'clock, the second is from 15 till 17 o'clock, the third is from 19 till 21 o'clock, and operation duration is 10 minutes. A driver arrived at20.55. MaxOptra will consider the driver to be late, as he has not got enough time to drop or pickup an order before the end of the third operation time window. Graphically, the situation is displayed in the figure below:

On the Track&Trace screen, the order line will be displayed in yellow (

Situation 6

Suppose, an order has three time windows (Operation time windows): the first is from 11 till 13 o'clock, the second is from 15 till 17 o'clock, the third is from 19 till 21 o'clock, and operation duration is 10 minutes. The driver arrived at21.30. MaxOptra will consider the driver to be late, as he arrived after the end of the third time window, but before the end of the run. Graphically, the situation is displayed in the figure below:

On the Track&Trace screen, the order line will be displayed in yellow (

In case a driver did not arrive to the customer location the order line on the Track&Trace screen will be displayed in red (

).

The"Include Operation duration in Time Window" setting is turned off

If the driver arrived within the order operation time window, when the Include Operation duration in Time Window setting is disabled, MaxOptra considers the driver to be on time.

Suppose, the order time window (Operation time window) is from 11 till 13 o'clock, operation duration is 10 minutes. The driver arrived at 12.55. MaxOptra will consider the driver to be on time, as he arrived before the end of the order time window and the operation duration (time for order execution) is not considered (the setting is disabled). Graphically, the situation is displayed in the figure below:
